Dear members and friends,

As you may recall, we previously shared with you information about our latest partnership with the Mayor's Office of Participatory Budgeting and invited you to get involved.

We have been working closely with the Mayor’s Office of Boston for many years in various projects and capacities. “Ideas in Action” is a project of the Mayor’s Office of Participatory Budgeting asking the residents “How would you spend $2 million to benefit our communities?”

Participatory Budgeting is a democratic process where community members decide how to spend part of a public budget.

After a series of meetings attended by our community members as well as members of other organizations, 13 projects were selected to be voted upon by Boston residents.

We are happy to share that TACS-New England played a key role in three of the 13 selected projects:

Neighborhood Fresh Food Access Initiative; and

Green My Block

both originated from ideas suggested through our network, while our members were instrumental in developing the proposal for:

Youth Financial Literacy and Empowerment Workshops.

From January 15 to February 15, 2026, Boston residents will be able to vote online and in-person at City Hall for their top 5 proposals. You may find details of the proposals in the image below.

Who can vote and what is needed?

● Only City of Boston residents who are 11 years or older can vote.
● Only one vote per resident is allowed.
● For online voting: Voters need a valid cell phone number to vote, as they will receive a code that will give them access to the voting site.

○ If residents don’t have a cell phone number, they can contact the Office of Participatory Budgeting to request a unique code. Residents can email pb@boston.gov or call 617-635-2381.
